A golden anniversary reunion of more than 100 police officers and their families has raised funds for
a local hospice.
A gathering, held at Wrexham Golf Club, saw former members of the Denbighshire Constabulary
travel from across North Wales to meet together for a special lunch marking 50 years since the
disbanding of the force.
As part of the event, a raffle and charity collection raised funds for local charities, including £250 for
Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham.
In 1967 Denbighshire Constabulary, along with Gwynedd and Flintshire, amalgamated to form a
new Gwynedd Constabulary which was renamed North Wales Police in 1974.
Debbie Barton of Nightingale House said: “We are very grateful to everyone involved for thinking of
our hospice as part of this milestone occasion. We rely heavily on the goodwill of the community we
serve to help us find the funds we need to run our hospice so are always grateful for donations such
as this.
"We hope everyone had a great time catching up with old friends and reminiscing.”
Funds were also raised as part of the occasion for Welsh Hearts and The Retired Police Officers
(NARPO) Fund."
