A YOUNG girl’s walking wish is a few steps closer following a fundraising festival.

And the event could become an annual fixture after music lovers enjoyed another fantastic day.

B-Fest Wales hosted the event at Holywell Football Club, which this year aimed to help three-year-old Ava Evans, who battles with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy.

The only way her wish to walk can be granted is through a life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy available in America.

An operation could permanently remove all the spasticity in Ava’s legs and help her build muscle so that she can learn to walk.

Her condition means she currently suffers from stiff legs and finds day to day activities extremely difficult.

Ava’s family, who live in Prestatyn, are aiming to raise £80,000 for the operation and subsequent expenses, as well as to pay for intensive physio and equipment in Britain.

Sunday’s event saw original and cover bands along with acoustic acts take to the stage at the home of Holywell FC, as well as a range of family entertainment.

Organisers are now hoping the previously bi-annual festival can now become an annual fixture in the calendar.

Event co-founder Phillipa Kitchen said: “It was another fantastic day.

“The bands were brilliant and we had a lot of good feedback.

“We raised more than £1,000 for Ava’s Walking Wish, but money is still coming in.

“Fingers crossed this becomes an annual event and we are looking for B-Fest to return and support other charities on July 16 next year.”

Mrs Kitchen thanked volunteers, Holywell FC and supporters for turning out on the day.
