A reincarnation of the Fisker Karma, the new Karma Revero will be formally launched next month.
The Karma name is set to return after the Chinese-owned company Karma Automotive revealed the new Revero four-door sports saloon which is coming in September.
Karma Automotive is the new name for the California-based Fisker brand, which was bought by Chinese conglomerate Wanxiang in 2013.
Essentially a facelifted Fisker Karma, the Revero is the first vehicle to be produced since founder Henrik Fisker left the business.
The original Fisker Karma was introduced in 2011, powered from two 161bhp electric motors and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Despite selling almost 2,000 Karmas, the company filed for bankruptcy in 2013 and was sold off to Wanxiang.
Details are scant at present, but from the outside, the Revero is pretty much identical to the old Karma.
With the new name, though, comes a new badge, which, Karma says, will be hand-painted on every vehicle.
No details have been announced regarding powertrains, but the Revero is expected to retain a similar hybrid powertrain to the original Karma, and the company has said that the solar panel roof ‘will create enough energy to power the car’.
Although no interior images have yet been unveiled, Karma has shown off the new infotainment system, which is described by the company as ‘a departure from the norm’ and ‘simple, intuitive and beautiful’.
