Volkswagen has revealed a new high-specification version of its Transporter van called the Sportline.
Priced at £36,295 plus VAT, the new trim level sits above the Highline in the Transporter range and is designed to make the passenger-carrying van sportier and more comfortable for everyday use.
At launch, the new trim will be available solely on the T32 Kombi model, although further variants, including a panel van, will be offered later this year in time for 2017 deliveries.
From the outside, the newcomer is set apart by 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, lowered suspension and sportier bumper.
Inside, there’s embossed leather upholstery, along with air conditioning, a heated windscreen and the Discover Media touchscreen satellite navigation system.
Other technologies on board include parking sensors front and rear, LED lights and App Connect, which is a smartphone connectivity system that VW says allows ‘seamless’ integration.
Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 178bhp and a seven-speed automatic gearbox, a combination that emits 195g of CO2 per kilometre. A more powerful 201bhp diesel engine will join the range at a later date, as well as a six-speed manual transmission.
VW Van Centres are already taking orders for the Sportline Kombi, with first deliveries expected in September.
