A WEATHER warning is in place for North Wales as heavy rain is expected to hit the region this evening.

The yellow "be aware" warning covers Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and parts of Wrexham.

The Met Office has said: “Rain is expected to spread from the west during Thursday, gradually turning heavier and more persistent.

“The heaviest rainfall will be over high ground, initially across western Scotland, then developing across northwest England and Wales during Thursday afternoon and evening.

"Drier conditions, albeit with some showers, are expected to reach Scotland late Friday morning, with the rain expected to clear Northwest England and North Wales by midday.”

It added that people should: “Be aware of the potential for further localised flooding and disruption to travel.”

Natural Resources Wales has issued four flood alerts across the country including two in Denbighshire.

The flood alerts mean there is a chance in the Upper Dee Valley from Llanuwchllyn to Llangollen and the Lower Dee Valley from Llangollen to Trevalyn Meadows.
