One of opera’s most novel acts is bringing the magic of Mozart to Rhyl.
Following their sensational debut in Rhyl in January, The Flat Pack Music community performance troupe are returning to the Little Theatre in August with The Marriage of Figaro.
Founded just last year by conservatoire trained musicians, Wirral-based Flat Pack Music has rapidly assembled a group of professionals who bring concerts, musical-themed events and opera to communities isolated by cost and geography.
Mozart’s classic comedy is performed in English with a cast of fresh, young professional singers, including Royal Northern College of Music graduate Joseph Buckmaster and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s Heather Heighway in the lead roles.
As the day of Figaro and Susanna’s wedding arrives, it becomes clear that their master, Count Almaviva, is hell-bent on seducing Susanna before the ceremony can take place.
Susanna and Figaro conspire with the forsaken Countess to outwit her husband and teach him a lesson in fidelity.
But when the teenage Cherubino involves himself in their plans, relationships become severely strained through a series of ever-more confusing twists and turns.
The opera also marks the second outing for Flat Pack Music’s community chorus, brought together by their common love of music.
To catch a brand new take on one of the world’s best-loved operas, head to the Little Theatre on Sunday, August 12 at 2.30pm.
Tickets prices range from £9.21 and £11.37 and are available from eventbrite.com
