A PLAY inspired by a desire to explore myths is the topic of a play on at the Galeri.

The opening night of the latest production by Theatr Bara Caws, Lleu Llaw Gyffes, by Aled Jones Williams, opens at the Galeri, at 7.30pm, on Tuesday October 29 and is on at 7.30pm, on Wednesday, October 30.

The show tours around Wales until November 16, with the final performance at The Riverside Theatre, Newport.

The play was inspired by Aled’s desire to explore myths as a nation, and their implications, such as the: Mabinogi.

It questions what happens when a myth breaks down and is no longer believable.

Will it be replaced by a new myth? Do they contain something that is still valid and enriches lives?

An intriguing play about the loss of faith and above all, human compassion.

The play is directed by Betsan Llwyd and the cast are well known on screen and stage - Carwyn Jones (35 Awr, Gair o Gariad) Sion Pritchard (Craith/Hidden, Hollti) and Dyfan Roberts (founder member of Theatr Bara Caws 1977 – ‘Un Nos Ola Leuad’, Y Tad
