A RUTHIN tradition dating back donkey's years is set to ride back into town this weekend.
Following last year's event, which saw hundreds turn up to catch the annual race, the Donkey Derby is expected to draw similar numbers once again when it returns to Cae Ddol on Saturday, September 14 at 12.30pm.
Organised by Ruthin Rotary club, the event is the organisation's novel way of giving back to the community each year.
A mainstay of the town's calendar for more than two decades, the event is funded by Ruthin businesses, donations from the Town Council and donations from the Ruthin Rotary Club.
As well as donkey races and donkey rides, the event will feature a host of activities for the whole family including a bouncy castle, a Punch & Judy show from Mr Bimbamboozle and archery.
Additional sideshows will include a duck race, 'splat the rat', a coconut shy and several stalls as well as refreshments in the tea tent, a burger van and ice cream from Llanychan based business Chilly Cow.
There will also be a vintage car and a blood bike - a motorcycle used to courier urgent and emergency medical items including blood and donor organs - display
Admission to the afternoon's fun at the Donkey Derby is free.
