A WHOLE year's worth of classics for people living with dementia will launch in Theatr Colwyn next month.

Dementia Friendly Film screenings are set to return on Thursday, January 17 with the 1956 classic American musical Carousel.

Based on the lauded Rodgers and Hammerstein stage musical, this film follows the romance of Billy Bigelow - Gordon MacRae - a charming carousel barker, and Julie Jordan - Shirley Jones - a pretty worker from a nearby mill.

When the attractive young couple gets married, they also both find themselves unemployed, which puts a strain on their relationship.

Howver, upon finding out that Julie is pregnant, Billy must resort to extreme measures to get money, a decision that leads to tragedy.

Featuring If I Loved You, June Is Bustin’ Out All Over and the anthemic You’ll Never Walk Alone, the opportunity to relive this deeply moving masterpiece is not to be missed.

Carousel returns home to the big screen at Theatr Colwyn on Thursday, January 17 at 2pm.

Tickets are £4.50, with free entry for carers and refreshments available at the interval.

This is a screening for people with dementia, memory loss and their family, friends and carers but is open to the general public.

A friend, family member or carer must also attend. Any wheelchair users are invited to contact the venue ahead of time to reserve a space.
