STARGAZERS will be searching the skies from an ancient burial mound on Anglesey.

Dark Sky Wales is hosting a star watching experience at the iconic Bryn Celli Ddu tomb on Friday.

Bryn Celli Ddu – the Mound in the Dark Grove – is probably one of the best-known prehistoric monuments on Anglesey.

It is a neolithic chambered tomb, with a partially restored entrance passage and mound, on the site of a former henge monument.

Working in partnership with CADW, the Dark Sky Wales group is inviting the public to visit the site and see it from a different perspective.

The evening's events will begin with Dark Sky Wales astronomer Martin Griffiths telling tales of the Mabinogi, as they are seen in the night sky.

The group will also provide telescopes and binoculars for visitors to explore the sky.

Allan Trow, manager of DSW, said: "It is a chance for participants to enjoy the wonders of the universe, from planets, the Moon, galaxies and nebula! All we need is the weather!"

DSW is a provider of astronomical experiences and deliver a variety of stargazing evenings the length and breadth of Wales.
