REALITY TV star Amber Davies has strongly denied taking drugs following the National Television Awards (NTA).

Eyebrows were raised after the 2017 Love Island winner shared a photo on Instagram – which was subsequently deleted – of her posing in the mirror in a hotel room.

The image appeared to show a white powder, credit card and rolled up banknotes on the table in front of her.

The former Ysgol Glan Clwyd pupil from Denbigh has issued a statement saying she wants to "set the record straight".

She said: "I was completely naive to what was lying on the table in front of me.

"I don't know for sure what it was, but I do know what it looks like and I am devastated.

"I have never and would never take drugs. That is not who I am.

"I'm fully aware that my supporters look up to me and the last thing I want is for people to think this is the type of thing I would do.

"I'm a normal girl with an amazing family and I would never let them down like that."

The 21-year-old – who won last summer’s ITV2 smash-hit reality series alongside then boyfriend Kem Cetinay – attended the NTA event along with fellow 'islanders' Olivia Attwood and her boyfriend, Chris Hughes.

Kem was also in attendance. The pair, who split in December, were pictured sitting together briefly, but 20 minutes later, moved two seats apart.

Amber wore a gold-one piece for the evening. Love Island was nominated for best challenge show, but I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! took the award.

Speaking to the Journal, Susan Davies, Amber's mum, said: "Amber was honoured to be at the NTA awards.

"She is now embracing all the different things she has got going on.

"She has got a lot of opportunities lined up. She continues to be good friends with Olivia and Montana (Brown) and she is concentrating on growing her #StrongNotSkinny campaign and promoting all things healthy."
