A RHYL fast food restaurant’s new digital approach has wowed visiting dignitaries at its re-opening.
The McDonald’s restaurant on the High Street, run by local franchisee Stewart Williams, was praised by Chris Ruane, MP for the Vale of Clwyd, and Cllr Alan James, Mayor of Rhyl for creating 15 jobs after a four week, £900,000 digital makeover.
Cllr James, said: “I enjoyed meeting Stewart and his team today, and learning more about how the new restaurant will help employees widen their skill sets.
“This is a clear sign of the confidence that businesses like McDonald’s have in the future of Rhyl with this major financial investment and the opportunity for employment in the town a real boost to the economy.”
Additions include self-order kiosks and a digital menu, allowing customers more freedom while simultaneously creating new jobs to help customers navigate the new system.
Not only will the changes allow staff to widen their skillset, it will also future proof the restaurant in line with a similar makeover in Abergele earlier this year
Mr Ruane added: “It was fantastic to visit the transformed restaurant. I was impressed with the size of this £900,000 investment.
“We need to get other national and local businesses to invest at this level into the High Street.”
“I was also very impressed with the staff retention at the store with three members of just one family clocking up 61 years of service.”
