Almost one in three employers are struggling to keep their workers engaged in their job, often leading to them arriving late and leaving early, a study shows.
Research among more than 100 employers by jobs site totaljobs found more than half said lower productivity and internet browsing were clear signs of lower engagement.
Half said disengaged employees arrived late and left early, while two out of five said staff took too many breaks and appeared distracted.
Matthew Harradine, director at totaljobs, said: "Our research suggests a real problem for employers. With the employment rate at record highs, it's never been more important to keep staff engaged, which more often than not, results in keeping them happy and retained."
