CONWY Borough manager Gareth Thomas has been reflecting on one of the most memorable campaigns in the club’s history.

The Tangerines secured a superb treble in the form of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One, FAW Trophy and Cookson Cup as a result of their efforts throughout the season, and they are now braced for an instant return to the Huws Gray Alliance after just one year operating in the third tier.

Thomas, said: “The players who were assembled some ten months ago have been brilliant and for them to win the treble is a fantastic achievement they should be proud.

“What they have achieved is superb for them to look back at and be proud of their achievements.

“Their commitment to training has been superb with them buying into all the ideas from pre-season sessions with Mark Lewin right through to sessions on the beach over Christmas and later in the season the lads have turned up never complained and just got on with the job.

“The pressure they were under the last six weeks of the season with two cup finals and then knowing they had to win game after game in the league was massive and they deserve great credit for finishing the season so strong.”

Thomas also went to praise everyone associated with Boro for their tremendous dedication throughout the campaign, and the manager is already making plans as they look to re-establish themselves as a second tier force.

“The chairman and directors have been superb throughout even when we had the odd sticky moment with no unnecessary pressure being added,” added Thomas.

“I must also pay tribute to the loyal volunteers who play their part off the pitch with the hours they dedicate to the club, Steve Braithwaite, Carl Braithwaite, Rod Herd and Dave Thomas have been brilliant.

“The coaching staff who have been superb from the minute I walked through the door and appointed Alun Winstanley to work alongside me, convincing the retiring Colin Davies to have one more season and also bringing Colin Edwards in as the season began its been a great experience with each of us all learning from one another and sticking together.”
