CONWY Borough have been crowned Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One champions after a 4-1 win at Llanrwst United.

The Tangerines are now level on points with Llangefni Town following another clinical display, but have a vastly superior goal difference and two games still to play which sees their return to the Huws Gray Alliance confirmed.

Gareth Thomas’ side fell behind early on when Steffan Whiteley hit the target on four minutes, but the away side regrouped and levelled proceedings on 40 when Matty Hughes finished well.

This was swiftly followed by another when Corrig McGonigle continued his sensational campaign with another composed finish on the stroke of half time after another impressive passing move.

After the break saw the Rwsters continue to find a way back into the contest, but they were unable to take any of the chances that came their way and were punished on 81 minutes when substitute Adam Whitlock converted a chance to double their advantage.

United threw caution to the wind in the closing stages and were undone again shortly after the restart, and Whitlock was once again the beneficiary of a quick counter attack to notch his second of the afternoon and secure the title.

Boro conclude their campaign this week when they welcome Llanberis to Y Morfa on Wednesday, before locking horns with the Rwsters on home soil once again on Saturday.
