LLANGEFNI Town extended their lead at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One summit with a resounding 5-2 victory at Pwllheli.

The home side took the lead midway through the half when Iwan Jones found the net on 25 minutes, and the same player was on hand to double their advantage after the break on 50.

Matthew Jones added a third following another period of pressure on 57 minutes, and despite Jason Banks reducing the arrears soon after Cefni managed to seal another crucial three points thanks to efforts from Jake Williams and Cameron Jones.

Llanrug United also remain in the title hunt thanks to a narrow 2-1 triumph at Nantlle Vale, with Allan Mark Owen and Gethin Lloyd Jones securing the fightback after Rhys Williams opened the scoring for the hosts.

Llanberis’ championship hopes now appear over after a goalless draw with Penrhyndeudraeth, while Craig Wheeler was on target for Mynydd Llandegai in their 1-1 stalemate at Greenfield.

Division Two promotion hopefuls Bodedern Athletic boosted their credentials with a 3-1 win over Meliden thanks to goals from Shaun Jenkins, Gareth Torr and Stephen Whittaker, and Pentraeth also picked up three points as a Ryan Wood strike on 17 minutes gave them a 1-0 success at Aberffraw.

A brace from Iwan Jones did the majority of the damage as Blaenau Amt secured a 5-1 rout at Llanfairpwll, but there was no such luck for Llannerchymedd, who had just a Richard Jones effort to show from their 3-1 reverse at Penrhyndeudraeth.

There was Mawddach Challenge Cup heartache for both Barmouth and Dyffryn United and Trearddur Bay, who suffered stunning collapses in their extra-time losses to Llanrwst United and Llandyrong United respectively.
