PRESTATYN Sports maintained their excellent recent form to secure a 6-1 success at Mochdre Sports.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two title hopefuls turned in another virtuoso attacking display to claim three points, which now leaves them eight behind leaders Glan Conwy with eight games in hand.

Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side got their noses in front on the half hour mark when the prolific Ian Griffiths found the net, and they doubled their advantage shortly after the break when Tom Court finished well following a sensational move on 47.

Griffiths was on hand to notch his second of the evening on 51 minutes after another spell of pressure, and Kris Owen sealed the points with a well-taken effort midway through the half.

The homes side kept plugging away and grabbed a consolation through Tom Clarke on 71 minutes, but substitute Tom McDougall made an instant impact by restoring their four-goal cushion soon after.

There was still time for Griffiths to despatch another opportunity after 85 minutes to make it a second hat-trick in as many games for the title favourites.

Bodedern Athletic also remain in the championship picture after a 3-0 triumph at Llanfairpwll.

Ricky Jones got the visitors off to a flyer with a fine finish on five minutes, with Shaun Jenkins and James Pasquill netting late on to seal the victory.

The result leaves Athletic 11 points behind Sports with three games in hand, and 19 behind Glan Conwy with nine games to spare.

Goals either side of half-time from Ryan Woods were enough to give Pentraeth a 2-0 home win over Gaerwen.
