CONWY Borough picked up their second piece of silverware in five days following a 3-0 Cookson Cup final victory over Barmouth and Dyffryn United.

The Tangerines achieved phase two of their treble attempt with minimal first at the home of Huws Gray Alliance side Porthmadog, and they will now have their sights firmly set on securing the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title with just a handful of games remaining.

Gareth Thomas’ side managed to open the scoring at a crucial stage of the contest just before the break, with Sion Hogan finishing off a fine team move that featured some excellent build-up play.

This spurred another spell of dominance from Boro which brought with it yet more rewards on 58 minutes when Dean Seager produced a scintillating effort after being teed up by the outstanding Tom Creamer.

United began to impose themselves for a short period thereafter, but they were unable to find a way past the resolute Conwy rearguard and Thomas’ men sealed a memorable double on 88 minutes when Cory Williams found the target to continue his excellent goalscoring run since returning from injury.

Attention will now turn to their bid to make an instant return to the second tier. With the Tangerines currently three points behind Llangefni Town with two games in hand.

Next up is a trip to a dangerous Llandyrnog United, who boast one of the most prolific forwards in the division in Mark Roberts, before taking on rivals Llanrwst United twice in quick succession.

Llanberis and Pwllheli also stand in their way as Boro continue to pursue three trophies from what has been a memorable campaign to date.
