PENRHYNDEUDRAETH were unable to upset Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One leaders Conwy Borough as they fell to a 2-1 loss at Y Morfa.

The Tangerines got off to the best possible start when prolific striker Corrig McGonigle continued his sensation run of form with a well taken effort on 11 minutes.

Gradually the away side began to see more of the ball in testing conditions, the they were rewarded for their improved play on 36 minutes when Mark Cook levelled matters after a brief spell of pressure.

This joy proved to be short lived as Gareth Thomas’ side responded almost immediately, and it was McGonigle who was on hand to restore their advantage with his 27th league goal of the season a minute before the break to seal the points.

Division Two side Llannerchymedd had nothing to show for their efforts in a disappointing 4-0 reverse at Mochdre Sports.

Duncan Midgley got the hosts off to a flyer with the opener after nine minutes, before the in-form Jordan Phillips doubled their tally after a prolonged period of possession on 39.

After the break saw the home side pull further clear thanks to a Kai Davies strike on 81 minutes, and Sports put the exclamation point on proceedings in stoppage time when Tom Clarke completed the rout.

In the only other game to survive the weather involving sides from the region, Aberffraw bowed out of the Mawddach Challenge Cup with a 6-3 defeat at St Asaph City.

A brace from Andrew Jones and a solitary Nathan Moore were not enough to see the visitors progress to the next round, with a hat-trick from Saints forward Jordan Owen enough to separate the two sides.
