LLANGEFNI Town lost ground at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One summit as they were held 1-1 at home by Llanrug United.

The visitors started the contest in impressive fashion and went on 28 minutes when Aaron Hughes burst clear and finished well, but the title challengers secured a share of the spoils after the break when a strike from Daniel Thomas on 74 minutes levelled matters.

Chris Roberts’ side are now four points behind Conwy Borough following their 5-0 victory at St Asaph City.

Llanberis’ good form came to abrupt halt as they were thrashed 8-1 at a resurgent Llandudno Albion.

The in-form Dave Maddox fired in a hat-trick on another sensational day at the office, with Harry Roberts, Joe Carey, Adam Hold, Joel Lloyd and Dan Evans also finding the target.

Improving Trearddur Bay produced another strong second half display in their 4-1 success over Mynydd Llandegai, with Ryan Connolly (2), Craig Beech and Dave Webb all netting after the interval, but there was no such luck for Nantlle Vale, who had just a Rob Owen effort on 32 minutes to show from their disappointing 4-1 reverse at Llanrwst United.

Just one Division Two game involving sides from the region survived the adverse weather conditions, with Llannerchymedd securing a narrow 1-0 triumph at Aberffraw.

A Tudor Williams strike on 69 minutes was enough to give the visitors all three points after a highly competitive affair, and the result leaves them level on points with Saturday’s opponents having played four games more.
