RGC head coach Mark Jones said their dramatic victory over Newport typified their Principality Premiership season.
The Gogs were involved in yet another classic at Stadiwm Zip World to close out their home campaign in fine style, with Jones praising his side’s ability to find a way to win.
He said: “That 80 minutes was the personification of our season, where we had a good maul, scrum, defence and attack but we just didn’t pull it all together for a sustained period of time.
"The big positive was the fact we dug out the win at the end, as when you look at the recent defeats they have been in within less than a score and in a couple of cases last minute winners, so today we went behind late and found that score to clinch the game.”
Their 14th triumph during another successful season in the top flight leaves them in fifth spot, but they could still finish in the top three if the Gogs manage to win at Bargoed and other results go their way.
“We are always looking to improve, and it may have taken us a few weeks to learn from but today it has shown with the scores late on,” added Jones.
