RHYL and District suffered their third defeat in succession as they fell to a shock 17-5 loss at WRU National League Division Two North strugglers Welshpool.
The visitors never really got going in difficult conditions which resulted in a number of handling errors, but despite the eventual result the Dragons did manage to get their noses in-front when a powerful surge following a ruck resulted in Cail Hughes going over.
That was as good as it got for the away side, who found it difficult to cope with a much larger pack of the hosts, and after levelling matters just before the break they went on to score twice more late on to secure a surprise success.
Rhyl’s second team entertained Shotton 2nds at a wet Waen and fell to a 29-0 loss.
