RHYL interim manager Mark Connolly praised his side’s second half performance as they secured a 3-1 win over Holywell Town.
The player-boss has guided the Lilywhites back to prominence in the Huws Gray Alliance, and he attributes their superb run of form to an increased tempo throughout their play which has brought significant reward.
He said: “The wind was in our face in the first half so we changed it a little bit and sat back. We tried to play to be fair, but on a few occasions we gave the ball cheaply.
“We knew Holywell would come at us but they stuck to it and second half the pitch was sticky and I thought if we pressed high then we could get something which we did.
“I have said to the lads I want us to match tempo and we had to dig in first half, but with the wind behind us we had to to create something which they took on board and got their rewards.
“Every game is hard as everybody has the same goal. Everyone wants to get out of league and Holywell are good team, organised with a lot of good lads, as have Caernarfon, Denbigh and Porthmadog so we need a bit of luck.
“What you also need is lads who will give you the graft and we have that now with a full strength squad.”
