RHYL chairman Paul Higginson praised the hard work of volunteer at the club after it was awarded a Tier 1 License from the Football Association of Wales.

This licence is required for clubs to participate in the JD Welsh Premier League, and it is the fifth year in succession that the Lilies have managed to secure it.

Mr Higginson, said: “The award of the license is a great reflection on the hours of hard work in ensuring that the relevant information is collated behind the scenes for the application.

“In particular, a special thanks is given to Kevin Davies who co-ordinated the licence application, club secretary Dennis McNamee and managing director Mike Jones together with all other volunteers who have assisted in this work."

Overall the independent panel awarded the FAW Tier 1 Licence to 14 clubs, including nine from the top flight and four from the Huws Gray Alliance.

Prestatyn Town withdrew their application due to their relegation from the WPL, while Bangor City and Connah’s Quay Nomads now have a fortnight to appeal following their application refusal.

Matthew Jones’ side were frustrated once again on Saturday as their clash at Denbigh Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, and they play their penultimate game on the campaign this weekend when they travel to Airbus Broughton on April 14 (2.30pm).
