RHYL FC have made another splash during the January transfer window with the acquisition of winger James Murphy.

The 20-year-old arrives at the Corbett Sports Stadium from JD Welsh Premier League side Newtown, and progressed through the ranks at Chester and Connah’s Quay before joining Airbus Broughton Academy.

He broke into the Wingmakers’ first team in 2015/16 and made 35 top flight appearances across two seasons, winning the WPL Young Player of the Year in the process.

Director of Football Mark Connolly, said: “James is an up and coming talent in the Welsh leagues and I am delighted he has come to Rhyl Football Club.

“I have seen James develop at Airbus over the years and I have been keeping an eye on his movement in the JD Welsh Premier League, so soon as I heard he was available we couldn’t pass up the chance to work with him.

“James brings a lot of experience with him for such a young lad and we are looking forward to working with him for the rest of the season.

“Bringing James in to the club shows the intentions we have to rebuild this club and put it back to where it belongs. We have a plan in place to rebuild this club and take it forward to where it should be.”

The club can also confirmed that Tom Rowlands has been released from the club after finding first team opportunities limited in recent weeks.
