PRESTATYN Town manager Gareth Wilson has been handed a contract extension ahead of their return to the Huws Gray Alliance.

The Seasiders announced the move last week, with Wilson agreeing to stay on until the end of the 2018/19 campaign and possibly beyond.

Wilson has led his side to a number of positive performances despite their lowly JD Welsh Premier League position following the departure of long-serving boss Neil Gibson, who resigned from his post to take up an assistant role at Connah’s Quay.

CEO Leigh Williams, said: "We knew Gareth was the person we wanted to take charge of the club and we have been in talks with him over the last few months.

“He is one of the best up and coming managers around and is very much in demand. He carries a lot of respect within the game so we are delighted he is staying.

"Having been with the club since June 2009 as a player, coach, and most recently interim manager, we know him well and Gareth also knows how the club operates.

Wilson has been in discussions with the current board members regarding plans for the summer, and he has set his sights on keeping the talent core at the Motion Finance Stadium together with a view to achieving an instant top-flight return.

“It is imperative that I keep the majority of the local lads at the club and build a team around them,” he added.

“I have spoken to the directors about my future plans and they are happy for me to start the rebuilding process.

“I now look forward to bring success back to Prestatyn and giving our supporters something to smile about again. There is nothing like walking into the clubhouse after we have won. “They are truly special people and deserve to see the side challenging for things again."
