PRESTATYN Town chairman Chris Tipping has stepped down from his role at the club.

The Seasiders confirmed the news at a specially arranged meeting with supporters on Monday, April 9, and also issued a community appeal for volunteers to help them with the transition during what is expected to be a busy summer at the Motion Finance Stadium.

This is the second key figure to leave the club this season, with long-serving manager Neil Gibson resigning from his position to take up an assistant role at Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Mr Tipping, who has held the position of chairman since 2014, oversaw the stability of the club in the wake of their recent £53,000 tax bill that threatened their existence, which saw a huge community effort to come up with the necessary funds to pay off the debt.

He will be remaining in his role as director but will have no involvement in the day-to-day running of the club.

The club have yet to release a statement regarding the matter.

It has been another incident-filled few months for Town, with Gareth Wilson’s side were recently relegated from the JD Welsh Premier League after one season in the top flight.

Plans are now being formed for next season in the Huws Gray Alliance as they seek an instant return to the top of the Welsh pyramid with just five games of the season remaining.

Town entertain Aberystwyth Town on Friday night (7.45pm), while their rearranged fixture with Barry Town United has now been confirmed for Tuesday, April 24.
