PRESTATYN Town have confirmed the appointment of Gareth Wilson as their new manager.

The Seasiders have moved quickly to appoint a successor to long-serving boss Neil Gibson, who resigned last week to take up the first team coach position at ambitious Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Wilson has been a part of the Town set-up since 2009 working under Gibson, and he has also announced that former Prestatyn favourite Steve Rogers has returned in an assistant manager role.

The new manager, said: “I’d like to go on record to say what a fantastic job Neil has done over the last 14 years.

“He brought me in as a player, developed me as a coach and assistant manager to allow me to take the position I have today. I would also say he’s left a wonderful legacy in terms of the 70 plus players he’s given Welsh Premier debuts to and also the infrastructure he developed.

“I’m delighted to have Steve on board as my assistant. He has a wealth of knowledge around the game and this will be invaluable going forward.”

Wilson, a UEFA A License holder, now faces the daunting task of keeping the club in the top flight and will be looking to get off on the right foot when they travel to basement dwellers Carmarthen Town in a crunch clash at the foot of the standings.

The backroom team of Mark Boulton, Jonathan Price, Richie Ingram and Martin Jones have been asked by Wilson to remain at the Motion Finance Stadium in the same roles they previously held under Gibson, although goalkeeping coach Paul Whitfield has left the club by mutual consent.
