NEIL Gibson has taken on a role at another JD Welsh Premier League club after resigning as Prestatyn Town boss.

The long-serving manager leaves the Motion Finance Stadium after 14 years, with the club making a statement confirming his departure on Wednesday, January 24.

A statement, read: “It is with regret that the club must announce the resignation of Neil Gibson as First Team Manager and Head of Academy with immediate effect.

“Neil has decided it is time to seek pastures new after 14 years of loyal and dedicated service at Bastion Gardens.

“He has overseen the greatest moments in our history; gaining promotion to the Welsh Premier league in 2008, winning the Welsh Cup in 2013 and guiding us through an unforgettable Europa League adventure.

“As a club, we wish him all the very best in his future career and place on record our sincerest thanks for the unstinting devotion he has given Prestatyn Town Football Club.”

Gibson was not out of work long and will now work under Andy Morrison at Connah’s Quay Nomads as first team coach.

The pair are working together on their UEFA Pro License qualification and the departing boss joins an impressive backroom staff which also features Jay Catton and Neil Ebbrell.

Morrison, said: "I am delighted to welcome Neil to the club. He has an in-depth knowledge of Welsh football and has done an incredible job at Prestatyn Town, bringing through and nurturing young talent.

“With our club's transition to a full-time status the profile of the players we will be working with will change.

“I have no doubt that alongside myself and Jay [Catton], that Neil will play a major part in developing the talented young full-time squad we are assembling and aim to have that in place for the start of the 2018-19 season."
