NEIL Gibson is set to take on a role at another JD Welsh Premier League club after resigning as Prestatyn Town boss.

The long-serving boss leaves the Motion Finance Stadium after 14 years, with the club making a statement confirming his departure on Wednesday, January 24.

A statement, read: “It is with regret that the club must announce the resignation of Neil Gibson as First Team Manager and Head of Academy with immediate effect.

“Neil has decided it is time to seek pastures new after 14 years of loyal and dedicated service at Bastion Gardens.

“He has overseen the greatest moments in our history; gaining promotion to the Welsh Premier league in 2008, winning the Welsh Cup in 2013 and guiding us through an unforgettable Europa League adventure.

“As a club, we wish him all the very best in his future career and place on record our sincerest thanks for the unstinting devotion he has given Prestatyn Town Football Club.”

Gibson has reportedly agreed to join Connah’s Quay Nomads, where he will work under manager Andy Morrison as an assistant, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.

The Seasiders are currently second from bottom in the top flight standings after finding life top following their promotion from the Huws Gray Alliance.

The club also announced that “any further information will be communicated through the official channels as and when it becomes available”.
