PRESTATYN Town remain rooted in the JD Welsh Premier League drop zone after a 2-0 home defeat to Bala Town.

The Seasiders have now lost six games in succession in all competitions, and Neil Gibson’s side will be hoping for a different outcome when they clash again with the Lakesiders on Saturday (2.30pm).

The away side made a strong start to the Boxing Day clash and they went ahead on 14 minutes when striker Les Davies fired past Ryan Roberts after a spell of pressure.

Gradually the hosts began to get a foothold into the game thanks to the outstanding Tom Kemp, and Jack Kenny felt he should have earned his side a penalty on 35 minutes after being felled in the box, while at the other end Roberts had to be at his best to deny Davies from claiming his second.

After the break saw the home side go close on the hour mark when Kemp fired wide, while Paul O’Neill was denied a leveller when his goalbound effort from close range was blocked.

They were made to pay for their inefficiency in-front of goal on 80 minutes when Colin Caton’s side doubled their advantage courtesy of former Bangor City and Connah’s Quay hitman Davies, who latched on to a superb through ball from Hyuga Tanners before slotting past Roberts.

The burly forward almost took home the match ball soon after but once again found Roberts in good form, but the visitors managed to see out the tie in comfortable fashion to further boost their chances of a top six finish at the split.

Gibson’s men are now three points from safety and they will be looking to halt their slide to avoid an instant return to the Huws Gray Alliance following promotion.
