Jose Mourinho had no developments to report on Friday in Manchester United’s pursuit of Alexis Sanchez now rivals City have dropped out of the race to sign the Arsenal forward.

With Gunners boss Arsene Wenger having revealed on Thursday he expected the Chilean to make the move within 24 hours, Mourinho had little to say about any deal ahead of his side’s trip to face Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Mourinho said: “Nothing new, I think clearly everybody knows that we are there and especially when Arsenal’s manager speaks so clearly like he did there is no point in trying to hide or to deny.

“But (it’s) not done, not done at all.”

Mourinho revealed Henrikh Mkhitaryan – reportedly wanted by Arsenal as part of the deal for Sanchez – remained a United player although he was not selected for the game with Burnley.

Chelsea coach Antonio Conte remains calm about the club’s lack of activity in the transfer market after being linked with Roma forward Edin Dzeko and Stoke’s Peter Crouch in a bid to solve his side’s goal shortage.

Asked if he was confident of landing his targets, Conte said: “I give my opinion to my club, but the final decision is for the club.

“I have to wait and to see what happens during this transfer market. I’m very calm under this aspect.”

Pep Guardiola will comfort himself for having missed out on Sanchez by looking to sign defender Jonny Evans from West Brom.

Evans is expected to command a fee of £23.5million, with Arsenal also said to be interested in the former Manchester United player.

West Brom boss Alan Pardew is ready to spend some of the money he will get for Evans on Basel’s Switzerland international right-back Michael Lang.
