RHYL’s search for a new manager is set to end this week with the appointment of Eddie Maurice-Jones.

The Journal understands the former Denbigh Town manager is scheduled to meet with Lilies’ officials in the coming days to finalise the highly anticipated move to the Huws Gray Alliance side after weeks of speculation.

Maurice-Jones, who guided Town to the highest league finish in their history this season when they secured second spot behind Caernarfon Town, will replace Matthew Jones, who announced his departure earlier this month along with director of football Mark Connolly.

The move represents a significant coup for the Lilywhites ahead of a huge summer at the Corbett Sports Stadium, as the club looks to mount a second-tier title challenge and get back to the JD Welsh Premier League at the second time of asking.

Following Maurice-Jones’ resignation from the Central Park side last week, the path has now been cleared for the talented young manager to confirm the move, and it is expected that assistant Richard Williams-Cooke will also be joining him at the Corbett Sports Stadium.

The appointment also casts doubt over a number of current Town squad members who have been fiercely loyal to Maurice-Jones at his previous clubs, while a complete overhaul of the Lilies’ playing staff is also expected and the new boss looks to return the club to its former glory.

No confirmation has been made by the club as yet, with sources stating there are still some details to be confirmed before they make the appointment official.
