GRESFORD Athletic have bolstered their squad with the signing of talented goalkeeper Mike Jones.

The Huws Gray Alliance side announced the move on Saturday, May 19, with the gifted shot-stopper looking to re-establish himself as one of the top young keepers in the region.

Jones played a significant role in Denbigh Town’s unbeaten Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One double-winning campaign, before moving on to Prestatyn Town and Caernarfon Town.

He also enjoyed spells with Oswestry Town, Mold Alexandra and Holywell Town before taking a short break from the game due to work commitments.

Jones, said: “I am absolutely delighted to have signed for Gresford Athletic.

“The club has an outstanding vision and a great management team. I look forward to being part of the journey ahead.”

Steve Halliwell’s men will be looking to build on an impressive second tier campaign that saw them finish in eighth spot and reach the Huws Gray Cup final before suffering defeat at the hands of Flint Town United.

The new addition is set to boost a squad which features the likes of Steve Smith, Jack Chaloner and Jake Eyre, who all recently signed extensions with the club.
