LLANRUG United clinched third spot in Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One despite being held 1-1 at home by Greenfield.

The Gwynedd side have performed exceptionally this season in the ultra-competitive third tier, and finishing behind Conwy Borough and Llangefni Town is considered a fine achievement with the resources available.

A cagey first period brought little in the way of goalmouth action, but the hosts opened the scoring after the interval when Jonathan Sadler found the net after 52 minutes.

This provoked a strong response from the visitors, who claimed a point for their efforts on 58 minutes when some neat build-up play resulted in Keith Ainsworth firing home.

Llanberis are now guaranteed a top five placing after a Gwyn Jones brace gave them a vital 2-1 home triumph over Llandudno Albion, who have hit a poor run of form at a critical stage of the campaign.

In the only other fixture of the day, Paul Lewis and Ieuan Brooks were on target for Barmouth and Dyffryn United in their 2-1 win at Mynydd Llandegai.

Bodedern Athletic kept the Division Two title race going for at least one more match following a 2-0 victory over Blaenau Amateurs.

A two-goal salvo from striker Stephen Hewitt either side of half-time was enough to secure the points, and they now sit five points behind championship favourites Prestatyn Sports.

Nathan Moore hit a fantastic brace for Aberffraw in their 5-1 thrashing of Meliden, with Gary Bolton, Richard Roberts and Kieron Rees a completing the rout, while relegated Llanfairpwll were unable to claim a share of the spoils in their late 4-3 home defeat at the hands of Mochdre Sports.
