RHUDDLAN Town clinched the REM Jones Cup with a sensational 3-0 win over high-flying Llandudno Athletic.

Wayne Hughes’ side turned in one of their finest performances of the campaign to come away with some well-deserved silverware against the odds at the home of Lock Stock Welsh Alliance side Glan Conwy on Thursday.

Town got off to a great start and went ahead through a sensational effort from Corey Taylor, and they managed to double their advantage just before the break through a well-struck penalty from Andy Booker.

After the interval saw Athletic begin to impose themselves on proceedings, but they failed to take any of the chances presented to them thanks in no small part to some outstanding saves from Aaron Pettitt and stout defensive work from John Wilkinson.

The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One runners-up were made to pay for their inefficiency in front of goal when the prolific Jordan Belham continued his exceptional campaign with another fine finish to secure the triumph and ensure the ambitious Town squad had a trophy to show for their efforts from their first season back on the North Wales football scene.

Plans are already being made for next season as the club set their sights on a possible title challenge and promotion.
