AN ABERGELE footballer is celebrating after signing his first professional contract.

Billy Sass-Davies was one of five graduating academy starlets that put pen to paper on a deal with Crewe Alexandra Football Club.

All second year scholars were recently informed by Under 18 Manager Lee Bell of their situations, and five scholars have successfully signed pro deals.

The defender linked-up with the first team squad for pre-season training, before continuing their development in Alex Morris' Under 23 set-up.

Sass-Davies also spent some time on loan at Evo-Stick North side Colwyn Bay during the latter stages of the campaign, where he gained some much-needed senior experience and turned in a number of quality performances for Alan Morgan’s side, who narrowly missed out on a playoff berth after a fine second half to the campaign.

He is also a decorated Welsh international at U19 level, and is very accomplished on the ball despite his relative inexperience.
