LLANGEFNI Town have received a boost with the news that manager Chris Roberts has agreed to stay on at the club.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One runners-up have enjoyed a fine campaign under the talented young boss, who recently turned down a role at an unnamed Huws Gray Alliance side to remain at the helm.

Roberts had a “very productive meeting” with the committee and confirmed that he will be staying to “finish what he has started” to lead Cefni’s challenge for the title next season.

He said: ‘’Nothing has changed, the ambition of the club and this squad is to win and that is an ambition that drives us all.

“My aim when I became the manager of Llangefni was to take the club back up the Welsh football pyramid, and I am staying to finish what I’ve started.’

“We have narrowly missed out on promotion three seasons in a row, finishing third, joint second and runners up again this season. I am already putting plans in place for next season and I am confident that with a couple of new additions we will go one step further next season.’’

Club chairman Alwyn Jones added: “This is great news for the club, Chris has done an excellent job with limited resources, we see him being a vital part of what we are trying to achieve and we are glad that he has decided to stay’.

“We are working hard off the pitch, continuously trying to improve and hopefully in doing so involving the community and get the town behind us. We do have a ‘long term vision’ and are encouraging anyone who wants to be part of that vision to join us on this journey.”
