PRESTATYN Town continued their recent encouraging performances with a 2-2 draw at Llandudno.

The Seasiders remain rooted to the foot of the JD Welsh Premier League table but will take a great deal from their point at the Giant Hospitality Stadium, and Gareth Wilson’s side face a make-or-break clash with relegation rivals Carmarthen Town when they are next in action on March 24.

A sensational save from Alex Lynch was enough to deny Oli Buckley an opening goal after just three minutes, and the stopper also saved smartly from Louis Irvine’s long-range effort on ten.

The home side had their first opportunity soon after courtesy of a Wes Baynes free-kick, but the recent signing from Airbus Broughton was unable to find the target and fired his shot over.

Town continued to press and got their rewards on 29 minutes when a looping header from Myles Hart left Lynch with no chance to open the scoring.

Things almost got even better for the visitors during a dominant spell towards the end of the first period, with Damian Ketley, Ben Maher and Noah Edwards all coming within a whisker of doubling their tally.

After the interval saw the hosts emerge with a renewed sense of purpose and they levelled proceedings on 49 minutes when Sam Hart produced a fine finish, and Iwan Williams’ men got their noses in-front for the first time on 69 thanks to a well-taken effort from Danny Shaw.

Credit to the away side, they kept plugging away and Lynch was called into action on numerous occasions to prevent Jack Higgins and Ketley from finding the net, but their persistence finally paid off on 88 minutes when a period of pressure resulted in James Stead firing home to give his side a share of the spoils from the derby clash.
