PENRHYNDEUDRAETH bowed out of the Mawddach Cup at the first round stage after a 3-1 loss at Llannefydd.

Mynydd Llandegai put in a spirited display before eventually falling to a penalty shootout defeat at Prestatyn Sports, with goals from Alex Branford and Craig Whittaker sending the game to spot kicks.

Llanberis boosted their chances of a Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One top three finish with a convincing 4-1 win at Llandyrnog United thanks to efforts from Stefan Jones (2), Callum McDonald and Lewis Williams, while a two-goal salvo from Shane Jones was enough to give Barmouth and Dyffryn United a 2-1 victory over Pwllheli.

There was no such luck for Trearddur Bay, who were beaten 3-0 at home to title chasing Llanrwst United, while Nantlle Vale’s disappointing form continued with a 3-0 reverse at St Asaph City.

Division Two title challengers Bodedern Athletic continued their impressive form with a 6-2 win over Penmaenmawr Phoenix, and they currently sit in fourth spot and 21 points behind leaders Glan Conwy with an astonishing 11 games in hand.

A stoppage time strike from Iwan Lloyd was enough to give Aberffraw a 2-1 victory over Llanfairpwll, while Liam Morris found the target twice for Gaerwen in their 3-1 success at Blaenau Amt.

Jack Griffiths’ first half finish was the only goal of the game in Amlwch Town’s 1-0 win at Llannerchymedd, but Pentraeth were undone by a late goal from Bobby Tudor in their 3-2 home defeat to Mochdre Sports.
