PRESTATYN Town have added to their forward options with the signing of Oli Buckley.

The talented young forward joins the Seasiders from nearby rivals Rhyl, and penned a deal at the club on Thursday evening ahead of their clash with champions The New Saints of Oswestry Town on Friday evening (7.45pm).

Buckley made 22 appearances for Rhyl in the JD Welsh Premier League last season under Niall McGuinness, and won the Sgorio goal of the month award in August.

He has found chances hard to come by at the Corbett Sports Stadium this season, making just three Huws Gray Alliance outings and scoring twice.

Town boss Neil Gibson, said: “Oli is a player we have had on our radar for a while now. I watched him a few times playing for Rhyl.

“He has good pace and a keen eye for goal . He can operate either as a striker or on the wing so gives us plenty of options.

“He also ticks the boxes for us at Prestatyn by being a young local lad who we feel will have plenty of opportunities to improve his game at the Motion Finance Stadium."

Buckley, who has also turned out for Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two side Meliden in his young career, stated the opportunity to work and develop his skills under Gibson was an opportunity he could not turn down.

“Knowing how Neil develops and gives young players opportunities, when the chance to sign for him came along, I jumped at it,” he added.

“I know most of the lads who play for Town so that made the decision to sign even easier. Being a local lad, I have always followed the club and attended as many games as I could. I can't wait to get to start training and show what I can do."
