PRESTATYN Town continued their concerning run of recent results with a 2-1 home reverse to Cefn Druids.

The Seasiders were unable to bounce back from their hammering at Aberystwyth Town despite taking the lead, and they are now three points away from JD Welsh Premier League safety ahead of their tricky trip to Barry Town United on Saturday (2.30pm).

A cagey opening to proceedings brought little in the way of chances, with James Stead coming closest after his free-kick was hacked off the line.

The home side managed to break the deadlock on 26 minutes when Zyacc Edwards produced a sensational volley from just inside the area to give Neil Gibson’s side the advantage.

This joy proved to be short lived as the visitors struck back almost instantly when James Davies rounded off an impressive team move to level matters.

Jack Kenny, Michael Parker and Noah Edwards all went close for the hosts soon after, while at the other end Ashley Ruane was guilty of failing to convert an open goal after the break for the Ancients.

The turning point arrived on 79 minutes when Welsh futsal international Naim Arsan conjured up a fine piece of individual skill to fire past Ryan Roberts to give the away side the lead for the first time in the contest.

Town tried valiantly to claim a share of the spoils, but they were unable to find a way past the resolute defence of Huw Griffiths’ side to ensure they went home with nothing to show for their efforts.
