AN under-strength Llandudno Junction put in a spirited display before eventually falling to a 4-1 loss at Penrhyncoch.

The Railwaymen were without a number of senior squad members for various reasons which forced them to include nine reserve teamers in their line-up, and they put in a fine effort against a side that had not lost any of their previous three contests.

Manager Chris Morrell, said: “Although it was a loss, to go to a good side in Penrhyncoch, given we had only four first teamers and the rest consisting of reserves and youth players, they gave everything and should be very proud of themselves.

“This experience will only stand the young lads in good stead for the future, and I am very proud of them all.”

The home side went ahead on 16 minutes when Steff Davies found the net, and they secured a second on 26 when Sion James finished well.

An own goal after the interval gave the Roosters a third on 54 minutes, but the away side got a reward for their continued effort on 63 when the impressive Nick Clark reduced the arrears following some neat build-up play.

This joy proved to be short-lived as the hosts rounded off the scoring and sealed the victory on 74 minutes courtesy of a Jon Evans strike.

The result leaves Morrell’s side rooted to the foot of the Huws Gray Alliance standings and nine points from safety ahead of their home clash with FC Queens Park at the Arriva Stadium on Saturday (2.30pm).
