HOLYHEAD Hotspur’s concerning run of form continued with two disappointing losses over the past week.

The Holy Islanders have struggled to find form of late, and a Huws Gray Alliance season that promised much with a number of significant signings has now descended into underachievement.

Campbell Harrison’s men were edged out 4-2 at Porthmadog last Wednesday, before suffering another reverse on their travels thanks to a 3-0 drubbing at Flint Town United.

Things to not get any easier for the struggling side this Saturday when they welcome a resurgent Rhyl to The New Stadium (2.30pm).

Last week’s clash at Port saw them fall behind on 24 minutes through Sion Bradley, before Joe Chaplin doubled their tally on 38.

Two quick-fire goals from Jamie McDaid and Alex Boss in the final five minutes of the first period saw the away side level matters, but Bradley capped off a sensational individual display by adding a pair of efforts after the break to complete his hat-trick and condemn Spurs to defeat.

Niall McGuinness’ Silkmen were at their ruthless best throughout Saturday’s contest to emerge as comfortable victors, with Shaun Beck getting them off to a flyer with a well-taken finish on 18 minutes.

Former Rhyl standout Mark Cadwallader managed to extend their advantage on 40 minutes after an extended period of pressure, and United managed to wrap up the points in the second period when Richie Foulkes steered into the net to complete the rout.

Harrison’s men have now suffered five consecutive second tier defeats, and they face another stern test of their credential against the resurgent Lilywhites, who come into the game on the back of a 2-1 win over Caersws in their final home fixture of the campaign.
