LLANDUDNO Junction are still searching for their first Huws Gray Alliance win of the season after a thumping 8-1 reverse at Gresford Athletic.

The Railwaymen got off to a poor start and found themselves behind after just eight minutes when defender Max Peate found the net, and this was followed by two goals in quick succession from Owen Roberts and Mike Latham on 16 and 18 to put the hosts further in the ascendancy.

After the break saw the same pattern of play emerge, and Peate notched his second of the afternoon on 50 minutes, while recent signing from Denbigh Town Jake Eyre got in on the act with a fifth on 77 to seal the points.

There was still time for the home side to rub further salt into the wound of the basement dwellers, and it was left to the prolific Latham to put the exclamation point on proceedings with three more strikes within the final ten minutes of the contest, to take his tally for the day to four after a lethal performance in front of goal.

Matt Evert did manage to get a consolation for the visitors late on after a rare period of pressure, but this could not prevent their 18th defeat in 21 league games, which leaves Chris Morrell’s men nine points adrift of safety ahead of their next second tier outing at Penrhyncoch on March 24.
