A SUPERB knock from skipper Will Ryan gave St Asaph a superb six-wicket victory over North Wales Cricket League Premier Division title rivals Brymbo.

The talented batsman turned in his best display of the season to date to lead his side to glory, with Jason Foulkes also putting in yet another outstanding spell with the ball during the triumph.

Their third win in five contests leaves the championship contenders in fourth position ahead of Saturday’s trip to Chirk, who come into the game on the back of a heavy defeat to Menai Bridge.

Foulkes put the new ball to good use almost instantly when he clean bowled captain James Claybrook for just four, and he also disposed of Conner Davies (5) and Mohamed Jayman (1) in quick succession during a dominant spell that eventually finished with figures of 4-16 from 12 overs.

He was aided considerably by Duncan Midgley, who took the wickets of wicketkeeper Greg King (37), Mike Wright (8) and Ali Khalid (3) to end on 3-24, with Richard Marsh Evans, Andrew Bellis and David North all claiming one apiece as the away side set a target of 130 all out from their time at the crease.

Visiting bowler Daniel Parry sent the opening pair of Mathew Ryan and Midgley back to the pavilion with knocks of four and eight respectively, and overseas star Nathanael Scott was caught off a Jayman delivery after making a promising 20.

A sublime innings from the home skipper proved to be the difference between the two sides, with Ryan ending the day on 66 not out after a number of eye-catching strokes.

Foulkes also finished the day unbeaten on 21 to offset a Danny Ryan duck as the Saints got over the line for the loss off four wickets after 38 overs.
