ABERGELE are still without a North Wales Cricket League Division One win after a four-wicket home reverse to Mold.

The hosts got off to the worst possible start at the crease when influential opener David Moulson was removed for a duck, while Ben Garnett made just 14 before he was caught off a Kyle Embleton.

Things got moderately better for Gele thanks to double figure knocks from Karl Higgins and Sam Painter, who were both dismissed by Jamie Ryle after contributing 33 and 21 respectively.

Other scores of note came from wicketkeeper Gareth Edwards (30) and skipper Ed Rooney (21) as the home side were all out for 133 from 45 overs at the crease.

Richard Crane was the pick of the visiting bowling attack, finishing with three wickets for the loss of 37 runs.

Garnett got Gele off to a great start in the field by claiming the opening partnership of Crane (14) and Isaac Allen, and Moulsen trapped the dangerous Duane Williams lbw after he made just 14.

Wicketkeeper George Deniz turned the game on its head thanks to a fabulous knock at a critical stage of the innings, with the middle order batsmen hitting seven boundaries before he was clean bowled by Kyle Walker on 42.

This proved to be a match-winning contribution, with Wes Gillam seeing out the remainder of the game with minimal fuss as the visitors reached their target for the loss of six wickets after 41 overs.

Rooney’s men will look to avoid a third straight defeat when they host Pontblyddyn at Pentre Mawr Park on Saturday.
