PROMOTION hopefuls Prestatyn face a tricky start in their quest to mount a Liverpool and District Competition Division One title challenge.

The Beach Road side have lofty ambitions after a season of inconsistency last term, and they begin the campaign on Saturday, April 14 with a home tie against Fleetwood Hesketh.

Following their opening day clash, their first away encounter sees Gareth Boughey’s men travel to a fancied Newton-le-Willows, and this will be swiftly followed on May 5 when they entertain Southport and Birkdale.

Wigan are going to be another of the stronger teams and they come up against the North Wales outfit on May 13, while Birkenhead Park, Sefton Park, Wavertree and Liverpool also form the opening and most pivotal fixtures of the season.

Abergele begin their North Wales Cricket League Division One season on their travels at Dolgellau on Saturday, April 24.

They managed to avoid relegation on the final day and will be hoping for better success this time around, with Llay Welfare, Mold, Pontblyddyn, Bethesda and title favourites Mochdre also on the horizon during the first few weeks of the new campaign.
