Promoted Prestatyn are not letting last Saturday's 6-0 caning from formidable Skelmersdale United influence their attitude ahead of their historic debut in the Welsh Premier League against first opponents Airbus UK at Bastion Road on Friday night (kick-off 7-30pm).
Player-manager Neil Gibson wanted his senior squad to be stretched against quality opposition and Skem certainly met that criterion as they raced into a 3-0 lead inside the opening twenty-five minutes, although one of the goals came from a disputed p
enalty when Russell Jones was adjudged to have handled in the box. With their own attack firmly held in check most of the time, Prestatyn conceded a fourth goal just minutes into the second half before two more left them hit for six.

"They looked a really strong outfit and it was a reminder of what we can expect to face at times in this higher level we are about to enter," pointed out assistant manager Martin Jones.

Two key players, ace striker Jon Fisher-Cooke and midfielder Michael Gibson could possibly return after both missed the Skem friendly. Former Rhyl goal-getter Fisher-Cooke has been troubled with injury as has unlucky Gibson but late fitness tests will decide if either can return. Gibson seems the less likely to be ready but hasn't been entirely ruled out.

"We will be checking on any other knocks or niggles at our training session in midweek but certainly most of the regulars are expected to be available," added Jones. "We are hoping for a big crowd to get behind the lads.”
