ABERGELE Harriers can boast two Welsh champions in their ranks, after Geran Hughes and Sean McCormack won gold medals in the Welsh Masters Track and Field Championships in Newport.
This came just two weeks after they won bronze medals in the British Masters Championships.
McCormack took 17 seconds off the personal best time he had set in Birmingham just two weeks earlier for 5,000m by leading from gun to tape to win the race in 16.43 and in the process win the Welsh V45 title.
Hughes won gold in the 1500m MV40 age category in 4.41.
Earlier McCormack was one of three Harriers running a 3,000m at the Trafford Grand Prix and finished in 9.42. Tim Cahill finished in 9m.59 and Steven McCormack 10.17.
l On Saturday, Haydn Jones and Rob Spotswood ran a cross country at Burtonwood, finishing in 30.38 and 33.41 respectively.
The following day in the 5k Great Orme Challenge, Jones was second in the MV40 category in 25.02, 10 seconds ahead of Graham Shone.
Hilary Jaques won the FV45 category in 27.55.
The first Harrier home was Josh Dixon (21.12) two seconds and one place ahead of Darren Blazier.
